Earl H. Jones, Treasurer

Earl H. Jones, Jr, is a native of Birmingham, Alabama, where he attended Ullman High School in Birmingham graduating summa com laude in 1956. He continued his undergraduate studies in architecture at Tuskegee University where he graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Architecture in 1960. He continued his graduate studies at the School of Architecture at Syracuse University receiving a Master of Urban Planning in 1969.

Mr. Jones’ academic pursuits have included numerous professional improvement courses including completing a curriculum in “Management of High Technology Companies” at Stanford University in 1988. Mr. Jones is a Registered Architect in the State of California and is a Member of the National Organization of Minority Architects (NOMA).

Mr. Jones completed a 20-year career in 1980 where he received numerous awards and decorations including being selected in 1970 as the “Most Outstanding Civil Engineering Officer” in the Air Defense Command. Following his Air Force career, he joined TRW, an aerospace company and received national recognition in 1994 with a Professional Achievement Award at the Annual Black Engineering Conference. He retired from TRW in 2002 as the Business Area Director for Satellite Command and Control and Communications Systems. Mr. Jones is currently a Private Consultant focusing on aerospace business development, architecture and capital development planning. He also is a Member of the Board of Directors for Saalex Solutions, Inc., a small systems engineering and testing company.

Mr. Jones is a member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity and has been a loyal, active and financial member of the Zeta Rho Chapter, Los Angeles, California, ever since 1992. He has served as Editor to the Oracle and Chapter Recorder for six years.

He has been a very successful Chairman of the annual Salute and Scholarship event for three consecutive years and has not only served on other Salute Committees annually but also has supported chapter social and community action programs. He annually plans and leads the Prostate Cancer Screening Program. Mr. Jones received the Chapter Superior Service Award in 1995 and 2002, the Founders Award in 2006 the Man of the Year Award in 2010, and the Citizen of the Year Award in 2912. He also received the 12th District Founder’s Award in 2007.

Mr. Jones is a Member of the Board of Directors of the Zeta Rho Foundation, a non-profit community service company, and is serving as its Treasurer. Mr. Jones has been active in other community services. He is a member of Trinity Baptist Church where he sings in the Choir. He served on the Board of Trustees for over nine years including five years as its Chairman. He has been the Chairman of the Social Actions Committee, which focused on political actions and education. He also is a member of the Board of Directors of the Trinity Community Development Corporation and serves as its CEO and Executive Director.

Mr. Jones has raised three wonderful children and has three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He is married to Esther Montgomery-Shields.
