Melvin Jackson, Jr., Board Member
Melvin ‘Mel’ Jackson, Jr. is the retired Director of Diversity for Raytheon Company’s Space and Airborne Systems (SAS). In this position, he was a member of the SAS Human Resources Leadership Team, and Raytheon Diversity Council. Mr. Jackson was the architect for the business segment’s diversity strategy, and served as a consultant to the business leadership team, and SAS Diversity Champion. In addition, he lead the SAS diversity effort, which included coordination of diversity efforts, diversity councils, employee networks, emerging community outreach, diversity training, metrics, and communication. Additionally, he was instrumental in recruitment of women and people of color for the last two decades. Prior positions, Mr. Jackson was the Lead for SAS Talent Acquisition responsible for the work force planning, requirements definition, people redistribution, sourcing, selection, and work force assimilation for the California, Texas, and Mississippi Sites of the business. Mr. Jackson has more than 36 years of extensive and diverse experience in human resources and administration. 30 years of demonstrated project and line management.
Mr. Jackson is actively involved in several civic and community activities. Community service includes the Los Angeles Child Guidance Clinic and the Bridge Builders Foundation.
Mr. Jackson earned a Bachelor Degree in Liberal Arts from the University of Southern California. He was the Top Student Athlete in 1976. Also, Mr. Jackson completed the CSULB Advance Program in Human Resource Management, the Hughes Advance Leadership Program, and Center for Creative Leadership, African American Executive Leadership Program.
