Theodore L. Irving, Board Member

Born in Washington, D.C., Theo is the oldest son in a family of nine. He has been married to Lorrie Michelle Dangerfield for twenty-four years and the father of two. Loren, a son, is a graduate of Menlo College with a degree in Mass Communications. His daughter, Lindsey Camille, is a senior at Auburn University, Alabama, in the Laboratory Technology Program. He currently resides in the View Park-Windsor Hills community of the County of Los Angeles. Upon arriving in Los Angeles 1980, Theo began attending West Angeles Community College and went on to attend Santa Monica Community College before transferring to the University of Southern California. He is a graduate from the University of Southern California, with an undergraduate degree Planning and Development and a Master’s degree in Planning.

Currently, Theo is a City Planner with the City of Los Angeles Department of City Planning, where he has been employed for fifteen years and has held several roles. He supervises a staff of three planners in the Expediting Processing Section that processes application requests for subdivisions, conditional uses, variances and other discretionary requests. Among his other responsibilities, he performs as the hearing officer and makes presentations to the Deputy Advisory Agency, City’s Planning Commissions and to the City Council. He consults with staff of the elected offices, developers, engineers, architects, attorneys and other professionals in the development community.

Theo is highly involved in the community where he resides as a volunteer member of the United Homeowners Association. He has been a member of the UHA for fifteen years and spent six years as the organization’s president. He is an American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) member of the American Planning Association and a member of the Southern California Leadership Network. Most recently, Theo served as the Chair of the 2012 Omega Salute and Scholarship Fundraising campaign that awarded nearly $60,000 scholarships to young men in the Los Angeles.
