For nearly 20 years, Bridge Builders has provided life-changing STEM experiences for youth of color. What started as a single-day trip to the Bolsa Chica Conservancy has grown into a year-round program with a summer component, offering hands-on lessons with real-world applications, augmented with field trips – for elementary, middle, and high school students.
With the motto “What they see, they can be,” the program features diverse instructors and role models, ensuring every participant feels inspired and represented. These 100% free programs address the underrepresentation of women and racial minorities in STEM by tackling barriers and creating access, exposure, and pathways to STEM Careers and Industries.
Directly Inspiring the Next Generation of STEM Leaders
The Saturday Science Academy serves over 100 youth annually, delivering 200+ hours of interactive STEM learning. Each Saturday, from January through June, students explore physical, earth, and life sciences while gaining exposure to STEM careers and academic paths through culturally relevant field trips.
The summer marine science component spans three weekends in August and capstones with a 3-day, 2-night sleepover at the USC Wrigley Marine Science Center.

Dive Into STEM, Explore the Ocean, and Experience College Life!
Our five-day, all-expenses-paid residential camp offers an exciting, science-rich adventure designed to spark curiosity about the Earth’s oceans and the life they sustain.
Each summer, 11th-12th grade student applicants are selected to attend one of two premier programs: UC San Diego Marine Science Camp or CSU Monterey Bay Marine Science Camp.
What to Expect:
Hands-on activities exploring marine science and ocean conservation.
Daily learning and recreation on campus and at nearby beaches.
Behind-the-scenes aquarium tours.
Evening programs and meals on campus for an authentic college experience.
This immersive camp broadens students’ horizons, highlights STEM career possibilities, and fosters a sense of belonging—all while having fun in a beautiful coastal environment!

At Bridge Builders Foundation, we collaborate with elementary, middle, and high schools across Los Angeles and Long Beach to offer impactful science and math tutoring programs. These sessions, held after school and on Saturdays, are designed to empower students with the skills and confidence needed to excel academically.
As a proud partner of the Long Beach Math Collaborative, we deliver evidence-based, college-preparatory STEM instruction at David Starr Jordan High School, helping students build a strong foundation for future success in higher education and beyond.
