Westley Sholes's has spent his entire adult life in directly or indirect public service. He is currently emeritus member of Bridge Builder Foundation.
Westley Sholes has a health care career that spans over Fifty five years. His professional career has been mainly in health care, starting as a biochemical medical technologist in 1960 until his retirement in 1993 as Deputy Director, Administrative Services, Los Angeles County Dept. of Health Services. During that period he held positions of Administrative Trainee, Executive Assistant, Associate Hospital Administrator, Hospital Administrator; Director of Budget &Legislation and, at time of retirement, Deputy Director for Administrative Services.
Since 1993 he has functioned as Principal, Sholes & Associates, a management & strategic planning body. He has also been active in numerous health and community policy issues through several organizations and government agencies. He is currently Chairman of the SRO Housing Corporation Board of Directors,; founding member of the Board of Directors for California Prostate Cancer Coalition, member, Board of Directors, Intercultural Cancer Council, former member of Board of Directors of the National Organization of Black County Officials and,National African American Tobacco Prevention Network. He also served on the National Institute of Health's Consumer Advocates in Research & Related Activities Council, Consumer Peer Review; 12 years as Panelist for the Dept. of Defense (DOD member of the Integration Panel for the Department of Defense Congressional Directed Prostate Cancer Research Program;8 years as member of the Global Scientific Committee for the Movember Global Scientific Committee and 6 years as member of the UCLA Med school Urology Department SPORE program
He earned a Bachelor of Science degree at Xavier University and a Master of Public Administration at University of So California.
Westley Sholes has been a participant in various aspects of Bridgebuilders from inception of idea to current status.


Thomas Dowdy, Jr. is a retired management professional with over 40 years of experience, currently serving as a Management Analyst for the City of Los Angeles while providing international disaster relief and conflict resolution training worldwide.
